Event 2 on 9 December 2015: Speech during a session of the 7th European Innovation Summit, European Parliament (Committee of the Regions), Brussels

 

EVENT 1:

Bio Base NWE and Knowledge4Innovation (K4I) organised the Closing Meeting of the Bio Base NWE project in the Members' Salon of the European Parliament in Brussels on September 29th, 2015.  

The event was a DINNER DEBATE entitled: "Enabling SME driven innovation in the bioeconomy: from concept to reality" and was hosted by MEP Lambert van Nistelrooij.

During this debate, the result of the Bio Base NWE project as well as the policy recommendations which came out of the project were communicated to European and regional policy makers and policy advisors (see participants list).

7:55 pm The advantages of transnational cooperation in North-West Europe by Ruut Louwers, Director of the INTERREG IVB Program. 
8:10 pm Bio Base NWE video: How can policy makers facilitate innovation for the biobased economy?  
8:15 pm Policy recommendations from the Bio Base NWE project by Dirk Carrez, Clever Consult (BE). 
8:30 pm Discussion and networking


The Bio Base NWE network also produced Bioeconomy Factsheets for Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany, UK, Ireland and Europe. The factsheets give an overview of the bioeconomy innovation technology system in each of the countries/regions, including the key government interventions, research initiatives, networks and finance instruments.

The factsheets are meant to be used as a guidance document for bioeconomy stakeholders and were ao. distributed to the participants of the Closing Meeting.

EVENT 2:

The results and policy recommendations of the Bio Base NWE project were also communicated to policy advisors and policy makers during the 7th European Innovation Summit which was held at the European Parliament in Brussels from 7-10 December 2015.

Mr. Brecht Vanlerberghe, R&D Manager of the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, gave a speech during a session entitled 'Innovation Ecosystems Part I: Start-ups, Incubators and Venture Capital in Europe.
