Bio-Innovation Summer School, offers a program of training and capacity building, inspiration and networking for professionals working in all sections of the biobased industry, including SMEs, research and development and education. The program consists of a range of sessions, classes and demonstrations delivered by leading researchers, entrepreneurs and experts in the biobased economy. Representatives of the Bio Base NWE partnership address the achievements and findings of our project, together with SMEs involved in the project activities. Representatives from academia present the state-of-the-art developments in the bio-based arena.
The summer school provides excellent opportunities for networking between professionals from all over (North-Western) Europe that will create valuable opportunities for the emergence of new business partnerships.
Technology Center for Biorefining and Bioenergy (TCBB), Ghent Bio-Economy Valley (GBEV), Ghent University and Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant (BBEPP) joined forces and organised the first edition of the Bio-Innovation Summer School, held from 25-28 August 2014 in Ghent, Belgium.
Subtitle of the Summer School was: Integration of Green and White Biotechnology: from plant to product!
28 students from 9 different countries (of which 5 countries from the NWE region) attended the Summer School. The Summer School was mainly oriented towards PhD-students working in the field, but also industry was well represented with 10 participants out of 28.
